Playgroup Volunteers
Kids Cancer Support GroupKCSG playgroup provides an opportunity for children, siblings, parents/caregivers and grandparents to connect in a safe play space with activities tailored to their particular needs.
Volunteer tasks may include:
- Setting up tables and chairs, craft, toys, play and music equipment before participants arrive, and helping with pack down/cleaning at the end of session
- Welcoming Parents and Children and actively engaging in session activities
- Helping make parents tea/coffee and be a listening ear to families
- Facilitating positive and friendly communication with parents and children during sessions
- Working collaboratively with other playgroup volunteers in a positive and engaging team environment
Our ideal volunteers will:
- Be warm and empathetic, demonstrate a can-do attitude and be willing to help with all tasks
- Enjoy engaging with children and joining in with activities
- Demonstrate understanding, sensitivity and be especially aware of the level of emotion and turmoil our children and families may be experiencing
- Be willing to commit on a regular weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis to an approx 3.5 hour Thursday morning session.
We would especially love to hear from volunteers who have a background in working with children or in the health space, including teaching, therapy, physical movement etc., as we would love to utilise your skillsets to further enrich our program!
