Opportunities Australia is a community-based charity focused on giving job seekers training necessary for finding employment and setting up pathways that connect the right candidates to potential employers.

The role

We are looking for a Treasurer to overlook financial developments in our fledgling charity. You will be working remotely on email, phone, Zoom, and Slack.

Key duties and responsibilities

1) Provide comprehensive high level advice on commercial policy issues relevant to the charity. Undertake detailed analysis of complex financial policy issues.

2) Manage the preparation of high quality written material on complex financial issues affecting the charity.

3) Build and maintain constructive and collaborative working relationships within Opportunities Australia, and with external stakeholders.

4) Manage the physical and financial resources.

5) Provide leadership and direction for staff, and ensure business planning and regular staff performance agreements are undertaken.

6) Represent Treasury and Opportunities Australia on external committees.

7) Provide leadership and mentoring within team. As part of the Senior Management Group, assist to deliver outcomes.

Selection Criteria

1) Significant experience in commercial analysis and policy formulation with the ability to advise the Board on complex issues.

2) Extensive conceptual and analytical skills, and knowledge of contemporary developments and issues in commercial policy.

3) Oral and written communication skills of a high order.

4) Well developed management, leadership, team building and professional development skills.

5) Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, and influence and motivate individuals and organisations to achieve better outcomes within the charity and externally.

6) Demonstrated capacity to cope with significant workload, meet critical deadlines and achieve outcomes.

7) An ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures.
