Responsibilities may include:

• Attend relevant training and review sessions with the project staff team and volunteer group meetings
• Show a genuine interest and concern for the person
• Be respectful of others and non-judgemental
• Respect confidentiality and privacy of person
• Meet with person at least twice a month for a minimum period of 6 months
• Respect autonomy and dignity of the person
• Make regular telephone contact with their Befriendee and/or meet their Befriendee through home visits
• Assist the befriendee with navigating their local community and be aware of the services available in their local area
• Assist the befriendee with linking with supports in the community that provide opportunities for community participation and social connection
