The Community Visitors Scheme is an Australian Government funded initiative which started in 1992. St Elizabeth’s MU Auspice has been a provider of volunteer visitors since its inception.

Community visitors add to the quality of life of the care recipient by being a companion and friend. They can help the care recipient feel more involved with their community.

A community visitor is a person who sets aside time, at least once a fortnight, to visit and befriend a resident of an Australian Government subsided aged care home. Volunteering as a community visitor can be a rewarding experience. By befriending an older person, you can make a difference to their lives as well as your own.

Visitors are matched to a person based on their shared interests. You can spend the time chatting, reminiscing, reading, listening to music, games.
