PCD Australia

PCD Australia is a not-for-profit registered charity whose main purpose is to promote awareness within the medical and general community about Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD), it's impact and effects on its patients and families.

Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia is an inherited, autosomal recessive condition. A person with PCD experiences chronic, recurrent infections in the lungs, ears and sinuses due to impaired ciliary in those areas. PCD is also associated with reversed organs/organ development abnormality as well as infertility.

PCD is an extremely rare disorder that does not receive any funding and little is known about it. The committee are dedicated to raising awareness of PCD in the medical community and establishing a Standards of Care so every patient across Australia has access to consistent treatment no matter where they are situated.

Purpose of Role: We are looking for a Social Media expert to grow the presence and influence of PCD Australia nationally on the following social networking sites: Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of PCD's Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram and linked in account via Hootsuite.
  • Work with PCD Australia Directors and support groups to get maximum exposure of events and engagement on social media
  • Pro-actively use social media to help build the profile of PCD Australia within our support group and general community.
  • Content creation related to PCD including photo and video media to elevate our profile, develop patient stories, publish corporate updates and build awareness campaigns etc
  • Tracking and reporting on engagement results

This is a volunteer position that is able to be performed from home, however must be available for board meetings once per month to report on social media activity. The position also requires approximately 1-1.5 hours per week commitment.

Essential skills

  • Good knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Hootsuite and linked in
  • Understanding of analytics and engagement results related to various social media sites
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Passion for social media and volunteering

We are a very small dedicated committee who either have PCD or care for someone with PCD. Our key focus is to establish a Standards of Care and ensure the patients and carers of PCD have access to support and consistent treatment across Australia.
