We are looking for that "right" volunteer that has a lot of patience and willing to take the time needed to support a vulnerable man in his late 40's.

Rob (real name not used for privacy) has an intellectual disability as well as autism. He lives in a group home and has no family or friends. He has simple verbal communication skills, understands conversations, and likes to use a calculator. He responds well to females.

A volunteer over time will help him to further develop goals and will learn about his individual needs and therefore be a real voice for him when he needs to attend care-team meetings with workers who may not know him on a personal level, and therefore your role will make a real difference to Rob's life.

A volunteer will need to visit Rob and spend time with him partaking in activities such as number games, reading stories, and finding easy mathematic apps on his iPad and then teaching him how to use them. Rob is wanting to increase his independence as much as possible with all of his activities to increase his quality of life.

Time needed will be as little as an hour a week or fortnight.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
