Are you interested in helping save and protect Critically Endangered orangutans and rainforests?

The Orangutan Project is expanding and we're looking for a Fundraising Team Leader to coordinate market stalls and fundraising events in the Victorian Goldfields region, inculding Bendigo, Ballarat, Daylesford and Castlemaine. Our Team Leaders are one of the most important roles to help us grow, and the time to join us is now!

About the role

This role focuses on managing a small team of volunteers and coordinating events and stalls at markets and festivals. You'll be supported by the Volunteers Fundraising Manager and be part of a successful fundraising team in Bendigo!

In this role, you will:

  • manage, recruit and train a team of volunteers
  • plan and coordinate fundraising events such as trivia nights, movie nights or wine tasting events
  • book and manage stalls at markets and community festivals to seek donations and sell merchandise
  • talk to people about the threats facing orangutans and the role TOP plays in Sumatra and Borneo
  • manage, order and store merchandise
  • bank funds raised and maintain finance records
  • communicate regularly with your volunteers and TOP staff
  • work remotely via phone and email

About you

You're passionate about the environment, especially about saving orangutans and other species from extinction, and protecting the rainforests we all rely on.

You are a proactive self-starter and an excellent communicator who loves getting out and about in your local community. You have time and energy to put into this role, including volunteering on weekends and evenings. On average, you'll organise and attend one fundraising event per month.

It is vital that you have experience in team management to be successful in this role. Experience in event coordination or fundraising will also be helpful but is not necessary as you'll receive training in these skills.

A good understanding of customer service principles, strong organisational skills, and being able to work in a virtual environment will all help you to be successful.

This role is a great opportunity to build on your existing skills and experience and contribute to your career goals, while also saving Critically Endangered species. The Orangutan Project relies on our volunteers, especially our Team Leaders, to raise vital funds for urgent orangutan rescues and rainforest protection.

If you want to be part of something important and know that your efforts are making a real difference, please join us. If you're looking to use your skills and knowledge by volunteering with a reputable environmental charity, we'd love to hear from you!

If this sounds like you, please apply below. After you’ve applied, please also send a copy of your resume or brief summary of your experience to apply@orangutan.org.au.
