Vinnies Community Support Centres Community Support Centres are a point of contact for people seeking assistance from the St Vincent de Paul Society. The Centres also provide administrative and practical support to Society members who, through the Society’s home visitation program, support people in their local community who are experiencing hardship or are marginalised.

We are currently seeking people who would like to assist our team by providing reception and administrative support in a friendly, professional environment. This role will assist us to meet the increasing demand for our services. Looking for older people who may not be working or retired but are passionate about empowering individuals, children and families in the community experiencing disadvantage and ongoing crisis.

The Volunteer Role The Client Support Assistant provides full-service reception and office duties including: •  Creating a welcoming environment for people attending the Centre and responding to their enquiries. • Conducting face to face interviews with people requesting assistance.•            Responding to telephone enquiries and requests for assistance, providing general information as appropriate. • Completing general administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing and data entry. • Assisting with special projects such as the preparation of Regional Newsletters if required •Supporting the work of Conference members • Completing other relevant duties as requested.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • An ability to be non-judgemental and to show empathy and respect at all times to people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Good communication skills.Sound computer skills.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, taking direction from your supervisor.
  • Willingness to undertake training as required (provided or organised by the service).
  • A commitment to maintaining client dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to comply with the Society’s Code of Conduct and policies.

**We ask for a minimum commitment of 3.5 hours a day twice a week.
