Fair Trade Representative - Marrickville - # 163919

Palestine Fair Trade Australia

At first glance this looks like just another retail position. Look more closely and you will see a life-changing marketplace - a fair trade shop where everything is ethically sourced.

You will talk with visitors and customers about the principles of fair trade and how it provides hope for the future. We are looking dedicated, reliable, willing people who have a keen commitment to human rights and an interest in Fair Trade. Retail experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided. More important, is a willingness to learn. Commitment of 3 or more months is desirable.

Fair Trade empowers disadvantaged artisans, workers and farmers around the world by tackling poverty and poor working conditions, as well as conserving the environment. It gives hope for a better future by making trade fair.

It gives hope by enabling people in developing countries to create their own sustainable livelihoods through employment, regular income, improved working conditions and more direct access to markets. It gives hope through trade not aid, solidarity not charity.

As a volunteer with Palestine Fair Trade, a partner in the Fair Trade Emporium, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about life in Palestine, and through fair trade assist people living and working under military occupation. You will be welcome to meet others and work with our team on other activities. This role is also suitable for retirees.

Volunteers are required to be 18+ and fully vaccinated. Volunteering is carried out in a COVID-safe environment and you will need to ask visitors and customers to check in and show their vaccination certificate.

Benefits:

  • Making a positive change in the world
  • Be part of a team
  • Enjoy learning about our beautiful and ethically sourced products.
  • Training available
  • Become part of the Addi Road community with its Food Pantry and environmental programs, theatres and yoga classes, artists’ studio and heritage walk, a community garden and the Bush Music Hut.
You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
