We are looking for volunteers who are creative thinkers and committed to supporting people live their best lives. Volunteers who can support older people with their goals around staying independent, healthy and connected to their community.

The role requires an outgoing, enthusiastic applicant with a ‘can do’ attitude to provide assistance at the St Mark's centre based social activity group in Chadstone. The applicant will demonstrate effective communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in a team to support positive interactions with the participants of the group. This role will provide you with an opportunity to apply and develop your group facilitation skills whilst making a valuable contribution to your community. Shifts available from 9.30am to 2pm.

Participants in the groups attend to enjoy healthy lunches, gentle exercise programs, conversations around current affairs and events, games, gardening, craft, sing-a-longs, men’s and women’s groups, and regular outings to exciting places across Melbourne.

We are seeking volunteers to support with tasks including: Facilitate activities including: • Gardening and maintenance of veggie/garden boxes • Exercise activities • Games • Music • Dancing • Kitchen assistance: • Food prep •Serving meals/morning tea • Clearing dishes •Stacking and emptying the dishwasher •Cleaning the kitchen and meals areas. Client transport: • Driving a 10 seater bus to assist clients to get to and from the centre

The selected applicant will demonstrate flexibility and an openness to support the day to needs and operation of the program. No formal qualifications are required however you will need to hold a current safe Food Handling certificate which can be obtained upon commencement if necessary. First aid certificate is desirable.
