VAN CARETAKER/HANDYMAN - Outreach Van Sydney
www.4voices.org.auWe are looking for a volunteer who would be interested in helping us look after Snowflake, our 4 Voices Sydney mobile connection hub! 4 Voices is responding to the incredible increase in social and digital isolation within our community by delivering an outreach service in various locations throughout Sydney. By volunteering with 4 Voices you will be supporting us to help many unemployed people, many elderly people, and many girls and women who have experienced domestic violence and or homelessness – all these people are in desperate need of connection. We would love your help if you are interested in looking after Snowflake in a volunteer capacity! We are particularly looking for someone prepared to commit to approximately 5 hours a week. The Vehicle Caretaker is the first point of contact for all vehicle related support in their region and maintain the vehicle within the standards established by 4 Voices. Snowflake is an automatic high roof, long wheel base van – however only a standard car driver’s license is needed for someone to drive her!! The key responsibilities of the role with 4 Voices: • Keeping Snowflake clean and fit for duty which means: • Conducting daily checks to stock the van with essentials – eg coffee, tea, sugar, cups, paper etc • Topping her up with fuel as required • General upkeep of Snowflake, including cleaning her inside and out weekly; • Ensuring Snowflake's batteries are charged and ready to go each day • Organising regular servicing of , and transporting the van for repairs/maintenance or arranging other volunteers to assist; • Building and maintaining relationships with local contractors and drivers/team leaders; • Communicating updates and changes to Service Manager and Team Leaders; • Follow up on vehicle related incident reports locally and liaise with relevant 4 Voices staff member to implement recommendations; • Attend shifts as a rostered volunteer or on an ad hoc basis. The right candidate will have the time to keep Snowflake fit for duty as an outreach hub. She needs to be clean, fuelled, charged, her equipment needs to be functional and her pantry needs to be stocked.
In order to be eligible for this volunteer position you must have a valid, Automatic or Manual Australian car driver’s license and time to look after our precious Snowflake.
