Harold Hawthorne Community Centre is a not-for-profit organisation based in Carlisle. Our vibrant centre runs community activities, provides care to people living in their own homes, independent living retirement village and social housing units. We are dedicated to assisting seniors and people with disabilities to continue to live independently and with dignity within their community.

We are seeking a friendly and organised person to join our administrative support team at Harold Hawthorne Community Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to gain new skills and interact with a diverse group of people. Duties may include:

  • Relief reception and answering calls
  • Data entry (e.g. spreadsheets)
  • Records management (e.g. filing, archiving)
  • Compiling packs and folders
  • Mailing out documents
  • Formatting documents

The hours are flexible, and are typically between 9.00am to 4.00pm on week days. You will receive an orientation and training to ensure you are familiar with your role.

We are seeking volunteers with the following capabilities:

  • Positive and effective customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office system: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A strong commitment to working with older people and people with disabilities
  • A caring and compassionate personality with a commitment to enhancing clients’ independence, dignity and comfort.
  • The ability to work as a member of a team and autonomously under minimal supervision.
