Logo for Buda Historic Home And Garden

We have a range of gardening work available for beginners and experienced garden lovers at Buda. Buda is an authentic goldfields villa house and garden located in Castlemaine. In volunteering at this charitable not for profit organisation you will be helping to preserve and maintain the gardens. These gardens are open to the public as a wonderful example of a late nineteenth/early twentieth century suburban gardens.

There are numerous volunteering possibilities outdoors in this garden depending on your expertise and interest. General roles can include whatever the garden needs, which changes seasonally. Tasks can include raking, digging and lawn mowing. Other work can incorporate attention to detail, pruning, propagation or record keeping. The garden is kept intact and renewing the old plantings with their own progeny as much as possible retains its authenticity.

The organisation ensures volunteers are given training and support in their chosen area of work. Training sessions are run in areas of propagation, composting and pruning to improve individuals’ level of skill. The ongoing support and contribution from volunteers are highly valued. Most volunteer gardeners work as part of the volunteer team, part or full time alongside the Garden Curator on Mondays and Tuesdays. We look forward to meeting you to discuss volunteering opportunities.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
