Centre for Participation

Many secondary students 16yrs+ find it difficult to access driving practice through lack of available supports such as vehicle access or supervision. Likewise in our P21 program, disadvantaged learner drivers over 21yrs+ can also find getting their licence challenging for a variety of reasons.

For this role, Driver Mentors must be over 21 years of age and hold a full Victorian Driver's Licence. You'll offer a one year volunteering commitment of at least one or more hours per week.

Volunteers need to provide character references and have a strong desire to give back to the community. Your volunteering has a significant impact on the lives of learner drivers of any age. Your friendship, support, assistance and understanding along with your driving supervision, will bring each learner insights and skills that far exceed mere time spent in a car. You're not only developing safe driving skills on our roads, you're mentoring lives!

Volunteers will be supervising the learner driver in one of Centre for Participation's modern fleet vehicles at least 1 hour per week. We help you sort the schedule with learner and vehicle.

You're welcome to take on as many learner drivers as you can accommodate into your week or fortnight, but we will carefully match you with each one to ensure the experience is positive for you both.

You will be provided with VicRoads-approved training for this role.

Yes! This one is a big committment but a lot of the volunteers who have taken it on, have STAYED in this role FOR YEARS because they love it so much. This role has meaning, offering significant social impact rewards for the committed volunteer. Our team supports you all the way.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
