St Stephen's Church Choir is looking for additional singers.

You must be able to read music (at least a little) and/or have some previous musical experience in either a choir or with an instrument. We are specifically looking for Men Who Sing, but also anyone who can sing tenor or bass.

The St Stephen's Church Choir is a good choir to join if you like music in the classical style and would like to have a go at it yourself. Alternatively if you are seeking to improve your musical skills, this choir will give you the opportunity for weekly training (for example in reading music, sight-reading, harmonizing, and appreciating classical music). We sing in four part harmony SATB.

It is a non-auditioning choir, and is made up of professional singers and also volunteers; some who are very experienced and skilled, and others who are learning. The choir sings in four part SATB (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). The choir rehearses and performs on Sunday mornings, with no mid-week rehearsals or commitments. The main choir is robed in the style of city church choirs. The Choral Director is Dr Huw Belling (which is enough reason on its own to join up).

Singing is a great way to relax while creating amazing music and making friends. Singing releases endorphins, does good things with your brain waves (I'm sure I read that) and is a great social activity. There's a bunch of research about how singing, especially singing with others, lowers the risk of depression and contributes to wellbeing.

St Stephen's Uniting Church is located at 197 Macquarie Street Sydney, directly opposite NSW Parliament House and the State Library. We are two minutes' walk from Martin Place.

The Uniting Church is Australia is a wholly (and holy) Australian church, not existing anywhere else in the world. We are LGBTIQA inclusive (we love doing same-gender weddings) and pro-women (including ordaining them). We have a passion for social justice, including working together on climate change.
