During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to someone’s life, we would love to hear from you!

Robert is a keen woodworker, making planter boxes and birdhouses. He loves gardening, and would like to share his time with someone with similar interests and life experiences! You will be positive, friendly and enjoy going out for a coffee. Good communication skills are a must, as Robert has slight hearing impairment. He is available weekday afternoons, and would love a visit once a week or fortnight.

The volunteer will provide companionship, and support Robert* to achieve his social goals. Valid driver’s license and car necessary. Practical communication skills and confidence to work independently are a must. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.

Participant's name has been altered to maintain his privacy. Interested? For further information, please Call 13 93 75 and quote RH-E-03. Please note that during COVID-19 this role may commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Robert* and enable him to stay connected to the community.

Uniting is a child safe organisation and is committed in everyday practice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, at all times. As a ‘child safe’ organisation, employment with Uniting is subject to a satisfactory national (and international where relevant) police check and relevant Working with Children Check in your State prior to commencement of any paid or unpaid work and/or participation in any service or undertaking.

Uniting is also committed to equal opportunity and ensuring the workplace is reflective of the community. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with a disability
