TREASURER – “STROKE A CHORD” CHOIR Do you have a professional background in finance/accountancy? Would you like to share your skills to assist in the management of the Stroke A Chord choir? Established in 2010, the choir gives voice to an extraordinary group of people who have aphasia (loss of speech resultant from a stroke) but can still sing. Information about the choir can be viewed at mbf.org.au/stroke-a-chord.html The Treasurer is a member of the Management Committee. The role of the Treasurer is ensuring that financial systems and procedures are in place, are in line with best practice, and to maintain the budget to meet financial reporting for the Annual General Meeting. • co-signing payments • ensure proper records are kept and that financial procedures are in place. • provide an annual financial report for distribution to the choir and funding agencies • attend monthly or bi-monthly meetings (which may be online) • liaise with the choir’s auspicor, the Music and Brain Foundation on relevant financial matters • report the monthly position of the finances to the committee • experience in managing grant funding in the not-for-profit sector desirable. • great communication and interpersonal skills desirable. • understanding of financial accounting for not-for-profit organisations advantageous. • previous experience working with self-help groups could be considered favourably but is not mandatory. • personal or professional experience of stroke recovery with practical understanding of the challenges of aphasia is desirable but not essential
