Alex Makes Meals (AMM) is a not-for-profit company which started during COVID-19 to provide meals for frontline workers. We have pivoted to now make meals for the many people facing food insecurity in our community. It is an exciting time for us as we now move to focus not only where our meals go, but how they are made.

Alex Makes Meals is looking for a volunteer Team Leader to manage its recruitment team and work with our CEO, Board and other leadership roles during this exciting period of growth. You do not need to have previous HR specific experience, but you do need to have a demonstrated history of people management, understanding all parts of a volunteer/employee lifecycle and how to support them best.

You will lead a small, experienced HR team. The role is responsible for ensuring we find, hire and keep the right people, as well as implement and improve robust people practices, tools and initiatives to support a sustainable business for now and the future.

Your experience and skills

• Experience leading a small team and effectively managing people, ideally in volunteer and employment situations;

• Commercially astute, ideally experienced in NFP and understanding of a volunteer workforce;

• Generalist HR or industrial relations experience is desirable;

• Ability to anticipate issues and create solutions;

• Exceptional communicator with a team mindset;

• Professional with high integrity.

Desirable

• Experience with the application of Modern Awards.

This role is well suited to someone who would like to get exposure to HR leadership in a dynamic not-for-profit environment. We are seeking a minimum commitment of 4 months, but hope you enjoy the journey with us and continue in the role.
