Spectrum Space is a not for profit organisation that provides a range of services for people on the Autism Spectrum.

We see incredible potential for young people with autism. Our mission is to deliver quality services to young Western Australians with autism to enable them to connect successfully with others and the world around them.

Social, supportive and fun, we develop projects together that engage, challenge and motivate, teaching skills for life.

Using a strength-based approach, our services include a range of social groups for kids and young adults aged 10 to 30 years of age. Groups where you can make new friends, engage in activities that interest you, and learn new skills such as computer coding, public speaking, and film-making.

As a social group assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the supervision of autistic young people;
  • Preparing materials and setting the environment for the activities and packing up after the activities.
  • Encouraging participants to interact with one another and to participate in activities.
  • Recording weekly observations, goals and case notes throughout the term.

The following are desirable to have, but not essential:

  • Ability to autonomously engage participants and assist with set up/pack up and all group activities.
  • Ability to care for children/teenagers/young adults with a disability.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
