Project Yumi is an Australian registered charity that builds effective partnerships with local communities in Papua New Guinea, to enhance the quality of education and health care. We achieve this through deferring quality used school furniture and health equipment from landfill and send it to rural areas of PNG.

The Pass it On Project aims to stop no longer needed stationery going to landfill, and instead give them a second life, by distributing them to children throughout PNG.

We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join our management committee ($50 annual membership fee) who will be responsible for managing and overseeing multiple stages of our Pass it on Project initiative. The key responsibilities of the Management Committee are to set the direction for the organisation, to monitor its performance and to maintain control of the organisation, ensuring that it stays on track according to agreed priorities and planned activities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Process application forms.
  • Communicate with stakeholders participating in the project. (Schools, corporate offices etc)
  • Coordinate the delivery and pick up of equipment for the project.
  • Coordinate volunteer days to sort and pack collected resources.
  • Determine personnel, supplies, equipment, and other resources needed for the initiative.
  • Monitor the progress of project stages and determine and implement any necessary changes.
  • Record data on project work, such as expenditures, time to complete tasks and project beneficiaries.
  • Report project progress and results to the management committee in report format.
  • Effectively communicate with team members to ensure projects are managed and completed efficiently.
  • Knowledge of or a connection to Papua New Guinea is highly favourable but not required.

Required Skills It takes a passionate person who truly wants to make a difference to be one of our Project Coordinators. Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating programs / projects.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage and plan own work to achieve identified goals within time constraints.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to thrive and work independently and as part of a small team.
