Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve breakfast (toast and cereal) to school children (on school grounds) before they start their first class (one or more mornings a week). Volunteers would work as part of a team. The program operates from 7:50am - 9:00am and is looking for volunteers to help on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning (during school terms only) at Beenleigh State School.

The role includes setting up, preparing toast and cereal and serving school children. After serving has finished the role also includes packing food away and washing up dishes used by the students.

The benefits of the role is that it is easy to do and finishes around 9:00 am leaving you with the rest of the day. The work is very rewarding as you interact with the children, watching them grow and develop into strong, healthy and confident people.

The YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program provides free breakfasts to thousands of children and young people throughout South East Queensland. This program could not be run without dedicated volunteers. The impact of volunteers serving school children breakfast has a ripple effect with ongoing results and outcomes which we may never fully realise or get to see, but is life changing for those children and ultimately the future of our community.

The YMCA Schools' Breakfast Program aims to provide children who miss out on breakfast with a free nutritious breakfast to kick start their day of learning. Volunteers become adult role models to the children, a person who not only offers food, but someone who cares about them and greets them with a smile.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
