In Girl Guides, Unit Leaders are trained volunteers who look after the girls and provide them with the Australian Guide Program. Units have girls of a mix of ages and our North Melbourne groups cover ages 5-9 years, 10-14 years and 14-17 years. We are looking for 3-4 reliable new volunteers to attend regularly and assist our volunteer Unit Leaders in planning and delivering activities with the girls. There will be opportunities to train and become qualified Unit Leaders as well.
During a typical girl guide meeting, there is a mix of games, skill development activities, crafts, discussion and planning, and badge presentations. Girl Guides is non-formal education, so Unit Leaders help set learning goals and plan activities, but there isn't a structured curriculum and we do a lot of self-directed learning, learning through play and working in small groups. Each activity will involve learning and skill development in a fun way.
Units meet weekly during school terms after school has finished. Units also can go camping and have special activities on weekends or holidays.
