Position Title: Volunteer Marketing & Communications Manager

Key Responsibilities

There are two key purposes to this role:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies that actively promote the operations and properties of the Mustangs, consistent with its strategic and commercial plans.
  • Collaborate in the development and promotion of new initiatives to enhance the profile and reputation of the Mustangs and Ice Hockey within the state of Victoria

Key areas of responsibility include:

Marketing Strategy

  • Promotion of Games and Events
  • Member and Sponsor Servicing
  • Media Platform management
  • Manage 3rd Party Live broadcasting team on home game day
  • Media Releases
  • Game Day broadcasting via Mustangs media platforms Twitter & Facebook (including non-home games)
  • Manage 3rd party Graphic design teams
  • Manage O’Brien Ice House Marketing & Media Team

Strategy

  • Strategic planning, implementation and delivery of The Mustangs Media and Communications Plan that complements the Mustangs overall strategic direction, brand, culture and values
  • Plan, implement and deliver the Mustangs media and communication requirements with regard to its major sponsors, stakeholders, competitions, participants, events, and alll teams;
  • Manage communications relationships with all major sponsors, stakeholders, including members, internal management, players, venues, Media and AIHL
  • Develop and manage program to activate media and communication opportunities for their key major sponsors, stakeholders, including the players and coaches;
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO and others to manage media and communications issues as they arise
  • Liaise with relevant external stakeholders including media, the AIHL and the Ice House and others to ensure that the Mustangs strategic direction, brand, culture and values are proactively promoted within broader industry media and communications activities and issues.

Management

  • Manage and utilise The Mustangs various communication channels including newsletters, website, social media, various publications, emails and other relevant mediums;
  • Plan, implement and manage the communication around all Mustangs activities, game day, training and other events as they arise
  • Plan, implement and manage a wide range of media and communications opportunities which help to deliver the Mustangs Media and Communications Plan.
  • Facilitate research and production of communication materials across the organisation, media releases and briefs and pursue communication coverage to ensure the Mustangs profile and properties are promoted;
  • Marketing Resource Management ; build an enthusiastic marketing social media team

Events and Promotions

  • Prepare and implement the communications strategy that leverages the Mustangs events to maximise the publicity and awareness of the event and the Mustangs
  • Develop a player media utilisation strategy to ensure players are factored into media opportunities

Member Servicing

  • Maintain effective liaison with the CEO to ensure a coordinated media and communications approach on matters of significance.
  • Coordinate a network of content contributors, ensuring that all content is consistent with the Mustangs communications objectives

Media Sales

  • Develop and implement a media sales strategy to ensuring that all available media is taken into account
  • Develop and maintain an asset register of all media that can be utilised by the Mustangs
  • Liaise & deploy O’Brien Icehouse & Mustangs joint marketing package

Reporting and budget control

  • Undertake all reporting functions to keep the CEO & Committee informed of progress to approved budgets, providing timely and accurate reporting analysis
  • Review Monthly budgets reports and forecasts as required
  • Provide monthly stats of advertising & marketing campaigns
  • Meet/ surpass all specified sales targets / profits margins
