Family Drug Support operates a national 24 hour line for families dealing with alcohol and other drug issues. Our line is operated by trained volunteers. We are looking for people who are non judgemental and are able to listen with excellent knowledge of the english language. Our training program is conducted over two consecutive days and involves a brief introduction to alcohol and other drugs, basic counselling skills including motivational intervention skills, reflective listening, appropriate empathy and referral. We are looking for people who are able to commit for a minimum of one shift every two - three weeks for a minimum of one year. You can work from home as we are able to divert our telephone line to the volunteers land line, so access to a fixed telephone line is imperative.
