Community Visitor (CVS)

Enfield Baptist Church

CVS aims to enrich the lives of residents in Aged Care Facilities who feel socially isolated or lonely.

We match volunteers with a resident to visit fortnightly. Most visits are about 30 minutes - 1 hour depending on the needs of the resident. There is not a set time structure - so you can work flexibly just as a family or friend would do. You may want to go for a walk, have a cup of tea, talk, or listen to music.

Aged care facilities in our area are in Enfield, Killburn, Prospect, Inglefarm, Lightsview, Gillies Plains, Valley View and Walkerville in South Australia. We can match you where it suits best. Many great friendships have grown through the Community Visitors Scheme.

These friendships are also maintained through letters, phone and video calls which is especially important where aged care is locked down.

Long-lasting relationship are built which allows the resident to feel that they have both companionship and purpose. Visitors bring conversation, news, new interest and friendship. Visitors may also bring a special connection through a shared language, life experience, or cultural understanding.

With changing restrictions on access to aged care facilities, we can help you keep connected when physical visiting is not available.

To gain access to Aged Care Facilities you will need the basic requirements in care settings of a national police check and proof of a current Flu and Covid Vaccination . We can assist you in these areas.

Even if you are unable or unwilling to have the required vaccinations, and still want to help, you could become a "virtual visitor", building friendships via phone or video calls.

We are very keen to hear from you please.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
