Position Objective:

• To provide supportive education assistance to participants of the program to enhance academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• To encourage and empower participants in the program, through tutoring and homework help
• To provide social support through positive behaviour and mentorship
• To monitor and record participant behaviour and report back to the program coordinator (youth outreach worker)

Key Selection Criteria:

• Able to assist participants with their homework or other school work, including maths, English and other school subjects
• Able to relate to students in a friendly and positive manner
• Able to communicate information clearly to students
• Be patient and flexible in your approach
• Have an understanding of the participant’s backgrounds and how this may impact on their studies
• Able to provide this service to participants in a manner that is culturally sensitive and respectful
• Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Teams, or be willing to learn how to use Microsoft Teams

Other Conditions:

• Must be able to provide a valid police check and Working with Children Check (volunteer or employee)
• As this is an online service, volunteers will need access to reliable internet and a laptop/phone/tablet with access of a webcam/phone or tablet camera
