FriendLine Call-taker Volunteer

FriendLine Call-Taker Volunteers Help us bring a little more connection to Geelong
Do you love a good chat? Enjoy making people feel welcome, seen and at ease? FriendLine is coming to Geelong and we are building a brand-new crew of friendly volunteers to help brighten someone’s day, one conversation at a time.
As a FriendLine volunteer, you will have relaxed, everyday phone chats with people who simply want a bit of company. No counselling, no crisis calls, no scripts. Just warm, genuine conversation that helps someone feel less lonely and more connected. It is amazing how much difference a simple chat can make.
We would love to hear from you if you: • Communicate with kindness and confidence • Enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life • Have emotional intelligence and a calm presence • Are open to learning about community organisations • Have basic computer skills for simple data entry during your shift • Are over 18 and can obtain a National Police Check • Can commit to volunteering for six months • Align with the values and mission of Friends for Good Previous volunteer experience is lovely but definitely not essential.
All volunteers receive full training and ongoing support. You will not be doing this alone.
Shifts are 3 hours and run at the following times: • Wednesday 1pm to 4pm • Friday 10am to 1pm
We ask for at least one 3 hour shift per fortnight.
If you love connecting, listening and making a genuine difference, we would truly love to hear from you.
