Beyond Blindness believe that all people with disabilities should be able to live their lives the way they want to and is passionate about helping people who are blind and who need support remain active in the community by running tailored programs.

We are looking for people with a good driving record to transport our members living at home who require some extra support to enable them to stay in their local community. The basis of this service is to ensure the safe transportation of our clients to and from their homes for social outings and other activities in comfortable Beyond Blindness’s vehicles and then returning them home after the program.

The role of the volunteer is to assist the members with bus pickups and drop-offs, ordering and arranging tickets purchases, drink and food orders. Our clients are legally blind, and with that in mind, this role is suited to people who are reasonably fit and able to assist our client’s movements.

As a Social Outings volunteer, you will have the opportunity to improve the quality of life of our members who might be socially isolated or just looking for another adventure to fill the diary for the week.

The outings are relaxed and social in nature where you might chat together, reminiscing about old-time and swapping stories. Outings include activities such as park and garden strolls, visits to museums, galleries, local pubs and shopping centres.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
