A much loved not for profit organisation that has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage for over 130 years, is seeking Volunteers to join their enthusiastic and dedicated team at their distribution centre in Auburn. Volunteers are the lifeblood of this Organisation and without them they couldn't run their services.

A General Hand Volunteer’s main role is to sort clothes and goods according to brands and then price merchandise accordingly in preparation for distribution into their retail stores. This role is vital in keeping their shops well stocked and operational, in turn generating revenue for their broad range of services that support the community and the 'Good Work' of this organisation.

About the Role:

• Sort clothes and goods according to brands
• Price merchandise in relation to basic, fashion and designer
• Prepare and pack stock for distribution into shops
• Operate heavy machinery including: cutting machine, balers, high-reach equipment (if you are trained and/or licensed to do so)
• Complete paperwork and documents accurately - including stocktakes, delivery notes & stock movements
• Assist with cleaning and keeping the distribution centre tidy, whilst maintaining safe work practices
• Training provided including workplace health and safety and childsafe awareness
• Volunteers are required for a minimum of one 4 hour shift per week, during business hours, Monday-Friday

About You:

• Complete all required training, orientation and induction
• Creative, fashion oriented, and have an eye for detail
• Respectful, non-judgemental and compassionate
• Reliable, punctual and display a positive, can-do attitude
• Demonstrate good communication and customer service skills
• Work as part of a team and professionally represent the public face of the Organisation
• Physically fit, with manual handling experience
• Volunteers are required to provide a Working with Children Check and complete a National Criminal History Check
