A much loved not for profit organisation that has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage for over 130 years, is seeking Volunteers to join their enthusiastic and dedicated team in their retail outlets.

Their shops are a treasure trove of bargains of all kinds - clothing, accessories, homewares, books, CD’s and DVD's, furniture and more - and are run by committed Volunteers and employees. Profits from the sale of goods stay in the local community, going directly towards funding invaluable services and programs.

About the Role:

  • Provide exceptional service to customers
  • Assist with sorting of donations
  • Prepare and price merchandise and products ready for sale
  • Rotate stock regularly to ensure visual merchandising is of a high standard
  • Finalise all sales through the Point of Sale system (POS) cash register
  • Follow retail policies and procedures at all times regarding sorting, pricing, merchandising, cleaning, customer service, record-keeping and safety
  • Respectfully accept donations from the general public
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in relation to enquiries made in-store by people who are seeking emergency assistance
  • Assist with daily tasks including cleaning and overall presentation of the shop
  • Complete paperwork/documents accurately and as directed, including stocktake, delivery notes and stock movements
  • Help identify hazards, assess risks, identify and implement control measures and report incidents in line with the Organisation’s WHS policy
  • Training and orientation provided for all Volunteers
  • Volunteers are required to provide a WWC and complete a National Criminal History Check

  • Respectful, non-judgemental and compassionate to other Volunteers, staff, the general public and people seeking assistance
  • Reliable, punctual and displays a positive, can-do attitude
  • Demonstrate good communication and customer service skills
  • Work as part of a team and professionally represent the public face of the Organisation
  • Ability to take direction and contribute positively to the overall running of the shop
  • Be willing to work within the ethos of the Organisation
