Logo for Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology Inc

During the school terms the Museum has school groups attending the Museum who learn about history by participating in archeological digs or mummification.

During the school holidays the Museum offers a series of workshop based weeks that are based on historical themes, for example Ancient Egypt, the Vikings, Ancient Rome.

You would be assisting with helping the children as well as setting up and packing away for the education programs, eg helping with the archaeological dig.

The Abbey Museum provide the necessary training for our education volunteers. We need volunteers who are happy to work with children, have a Blue Card (we can assist), like to share knowledge and engage with children to inspire a love of history and learning. Once experienced, volunteers can choose to learn to present the programs in their own right.
