Young Peoples Services (YPS) Volunteer - Play n Learn - Canning Libraries

The Play n Learn Program aims to support learning through play and offers guided activities to children aged 0-5. Individual sessions focus on areas including STEM, imagination and creativity, early literacy, social awareness and inclusion. Parent learning to support ongoing learning outside the program is also a key component of Play n Learn.

Duties include assisting with:

Set up/pack away and maintenance of session kits
Facilitating guided activities

Time required

All About Play Sessions operate during the school term at the following two locations. Riverton Library - 9.00 - 10.30 am ; Bentley Library - 9.30 - 11.00 am. Volunteers are required for a minimum of 3 hours with a preferred time commitment of 4 hours.

Requirements

National Police Certificate
Working with Children Check

Essential: • Previous experience working with young children and families or a person working towards a career in childcare is desirable. • Satisfactory National Police Records Check (issued within the last 6 months). • Current Working with Children’s Check Desirable: • Good communication and customer liaison skills. • An outgoing friendly personality, a caring attitude and the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. • Ability to work as part of a team. • Basic knowledge of early childhood development (an advantage).
