Buddies are needed for a new and innovative Inclusive Volunteering Program, that supports people who have experienced a traumatic brain injury to participate in meaningful volunteering opportunities. The Program matches individuals with a Volunteer Buddy, who provides support and encouragement within the chosen host Organisation.

About the Role:

• Accompany and support your Volunteer to participate in their chosen volunteer opportunity
• Encourage and promote independence in accomplishing their given tasks
• Ensure that your Volunteer experiences inclusion and social interaction while volunteering
• Promote positive role modelling to your Volunteer and to the host Organisation’s community
• Notice and report any potential hazards, risks or issues to the Program Manager
• Time commitment is approximately 2-4 hours per week, for a minimum of 12 weeks
• All Volunteer Buddies are required to attend a training program of 20 hours during their 12 weeks of volunteering, some of which will be delivered prior to commencement of role
• All Volunteer Buddies require a current Police Check and Working With Children Check clearance

About You:

• Patient, honest, kind, trustworthy, flexible
• Able to commit to the full 12 weeks of the Program
• Sensitivity and empathy in understanding the needs of your Volunteer
• Clear understanding of confidentiality and adherence to Organisation’s policy on same
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop a rapport with others
• Ability to engage with your Volunteer, provide appropriate support and be a positive role model
• Previous volunteering experience is a bonus, but not essential
