Fishing Volunteer for School Aged Children’s Program - Perth Northern Suburbs

Fishability
Logo for Fishability

Fishing is one of the most popular recreational activities in Australia. Until recently this activity has been difficult, if not impossible for many people with disabilities.

Fishability now operates a school aged children’s fishing program, which enables children with special needs an opportunity to participate in recreational fishing.

As a volunteer in this position you will help children with disabilities, from various settings - schools etc, experience the fun of fishing, by:

• Giving practical assistance - setting up fishing gear, baiting and casting a line, and catch care; • Showing an awareness of current rules and regulations regarding recreational fishing; • Developing relationships with participants to enhance their self-esteem, life skills, awareness of the environment and experience a quality outdoor activity;

Volunteers are not expected to assist with personal care of participants as teachers and education assistants accompany all participants.

All that is required is a love of kids, a passion to provide an extra level of support and a friendly can-do attitude!

Uniforms, training (2-day event annually) and social functions are provided to all volunteers.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
