The Australian Air League’s Bundaberg Squadron is seeking interest from male and female adult volunteers to assist with the supervision and development of their youth membership.

The Air League is a not-for-profit volunteer uniformed youth aviation focused group for youth aged 8 to 17 years old and has been operating in Australia since 1934.The Bundaberg squadron  encourages good community citizenship, aviation knowledge, discipline and great fun amongst its cadet and officer members.

The Squadron parade nights are held once a week, where a variety of activities are undertaken. Activities include ceremonial drill, team building, physical training, model aircraft, First Aid, flight simulator, and aviation theory. Throughout the year squadron members can undertake extra activities which can include aircraft inspections, camping, ANZAC Day ceremonies, flying and gliding, museums and teach life skills and all with an aviation focus.

Adult volunteer officers are uniformed members of the squadron whose role is to supervise the cadets and assist to coordinate the squadron’s activities. No previous aviation experience is necessary as training is provided by the Air League. All that is required is enthusiasm, commitment and youth development and ideally interest in aviation.

The ability to communicate effectively with youth groups, work well with others and a willingness to model high standards of behaviour by example to cadets – are essential.
