Community Visitors Scheme Volunteer

Cultura
Logo for Cultura

As a volunteer for this program, you will meet with your paired older friend once a week or fortnight (minimum 1 hour per visit) for a minimum 20 visits over a 12 month period. Warm conversation & activities such as coffee outings, card and board games, shopping trips, walks, gardening together & reminiscing are some ideas. In some instances, a visit could simply consist of a phone call or Face-time/Skype chat.

Upon engagement, volunteers must have a Police Check (paid by Cultura) and Working with Children Check (free to apply). They must also provide a COVID-19 Vaccination certificate as well as signing a CVS Agreement, Policies & Procedures and Position Description.

The Community Visitors Scheme is funded by the Australian Government. The aim of the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is to pair volunteers with an older person who is at risk of or suffering from isolation or loneliness. The volunteer provides company and friendship. To access this program, the participant will be living at home and receiving a Government Home Care Package – or have been assessed, approved and awaiting their home care package to come through.

Our Community Visitors Scheme Program aims to create smiles from connections; by nurturing friendships and supports between people with shared language, culture, community, experience, hobbies or interests.” – Amanda Natai, CVS Coordinator
