Companionship Support Volunteers
Volunteering Redlands IncSTAR Community Services provides a visiting/companionship program for seniors in the Ipswich area.
The program aims to offer much-needed healthy social interaction to seniors to help boost their mental and physical well-being by linking individual volunteers with an elderly person.
Be part of a team whose main responsibility is to engage with seniors and brighten their day through crafts, social outings or even a coffee and a chat.
The role involves:
• Accompanying seniors to social visits such as the movies, library, cooking classes, appointments and more. • Spending quality time with the elderly - have a coffee and a chat. • Assisting with crafts and hobbies such as knitting, gardening and sewing. • Reading a book and more.
The successful volunteer/s will:
• Enjoy social interaction with others • Great communication and social skills (you enjoy a good chat and meeting new people). • Have a sense of humour and be patient and understanding • Be able to respect clients' cultural and spiritual needs
