2 x visits per month Community Visitor - Experienced with Dementia - face to face visits
Latrobe Community Health/Link Health and CommunityCommunity Visitors are needed to visit either face to face or virtually socially isolated residents in an Aged Care Homes located in Glen Waverley, Mt Waverley, Oakleigh, Mulgrave and Clayton. We need people over 18 years of age who love to chat, are patient and enjoy the company of older people with dementia. These positions will be challenging but very rewarding. The role may include reading to them, holding their hand for comfort and taking them out in the garden. When the facility is in lockdown the visitor will need send a card or mail to their resident The following skills are highly desirable in a volunteer visitor:
- A genuine empathy and understanding of older people
- Good communication and listening skills
- The ability to work independently
- A commitment to developing a strong relationship with an older person and the CVS program
- Willingness to act with integrity, respect, confidentiality and dignity and the ability to be flexible Can you give 1 hour per fortnight to visit a socially isolated resident?
