Greyhound Enrichment Volunteer

Greyhound Adoption Program
Logo for Greyhound Adoption Program

Greyhound Enrichment Volunteers provide socialisation and enrichment activities to greyhounds in our care.

These activities may include washing and grooming dogs, walking on a leash, practicing stairs, and general attention and human interaction. These activities enrich the life of greyhounds and support their transition from racing life to a family pet.

Please note: we have an application process which includes an application form and induction. The link to start the application process can be found on GAP's website.

Requirements

  • Volunteers must be comfortable in handling dogs (can be up to 40kg) with various energy levels (including some very excited greyhounds!)
  • Previous experience in handling dogs is beneficial, but not essential as a detailed induction and on-the-job training will be provided.
  • A passion and commitment to animal welfare and greyhounds as pets is essential.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to learn new enrichment techniques that you can use with your own dogs at home
  • One-on-one contact with greyhounds
  • Experience that you can reference on your CV about working with dogs and within the animal care industry
  • The satisfaction of knowing you’re improving the greyhound’s well-being and increasing their chances of being adopted
  • Becoming part of the GAP family
  • Last but not least, getting to cuddle some adorable pooches!

Shifts

  • Volunteers sign up for their own shifts at a time that suits them as frequently or infrequently as they like

Please note: We require volunteers to be at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, please have a parent/guardian complete the application form and attend the induction session with you.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
