The position of Volunteer Tutor is designed to support migrants and humanitarian entrants in their transition to life in Australia by building self-reliance through developing English language skills.

Tutoring involves a volunteer assisting a student to learn English in the student’s home or suitable meeting place.  Tutoring sessions generally last around one hour a week.  Tutoring sessions are aimed at practicing conversation and other activities to help students focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Through helping the student with their English, the Tutor often has a broader role of providing friendship, cultural information and assistance with a student’s settlement needs.

Locations for tutoring: Sydney Southwest region: Canterbury/Bankstown, Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool and Campbelltown council areas.
