Community Visitor Volunteers - Morphett Vale / Woodcroft
Community Visitors Scheme (Southern Volunteering)
Older people living in Aged Care Facilities can sometimes feel lonely and socially isolated. The Community Visitors Scheme is a federal initiative aimed to improve the lives of older people by strengthening their connection with their local community.
Volunteering as a community visitor is a very rewarding experience. By becoming friends with an older person, you can make a huge difference to their lives as well as your own.
Visits can include anything from sharing a cup of tea, going for a walk around the facility, playing a board game, reading together, listening to music, participating in activities, or simply just having a chat.
CVS visitors meet with residents a minimum of once a fortnight (with many visiting on a more regular basis).
All volunteers are trained and supported by a CVS Coordinator. This person will assist you to obtain a police check, match you with a resident, resolve any issues, provide guidance and resources, and check-in regularly.
