PR / Publicity Coordinator

The Carers Foundation
Logo for The Carers Foundation

TCF provides wellness programs to unpaid family carers, specifically emergency respite care for those in extreme distress and young carers (13-19). The programs provide carers with the opportunity to rest, rejuvenate, connect with fellow carers, participate in creative therapies and receive counselling. This invaluable service relies on donations and grants to provide programs and support. We know we have a compelling story and seek the help of an enthusiastic, skilled volunteer or group of volunteers to help us get the message out.

The PR/Publicity Coordinator will establish an overall PR plan for the foundation that reflects our strategic objectives to drive broader reach and understanding of TCF and support our corporate partnership and sponsors program. We are keen to increase our profile across all forms of media (publications, television, radio, digital, events, speaking opportunities) and develop social media and educational campaigns to drive support for regular events and an annual flagship fundraiser. You will be supported by the CEO and a small but dedicated group of volunteers. We receive amazing feedback from carers who experience our programs and they are also keen to help TCF grow – we are open to new and creative ways of engaging with our target audiences.

This is a new role and it is anticipated it requires 5 – 10 hours per week depending on whether an individual or team/group accepts the opportunity. The work can be performed remotely with regular catch-ups with the CEO/other staff/volunteers either in-person or via phone/skype.

About TCF: The Carers Foundation was founded in 2015 in response to a growing need for carer respite care and support. Caring 24/7 for a disabled, sick or mentally ill family member is a labour of love for carers but it is emotionally and physically exhausting. Carers become socially isolated, may have to leave employment to provide care full-time and have the worst physical and mental wellbeing of any known group in the community. Our wellness program is provided over single or three-day residential programs based at Cedar Creek.
