Job Title – Volunteer Social Media Assistant

Working Hours – 7 hours per week, with the volunteer choosing their own hours.

Term: 12 month commitment

Salary: Voluntary

Workdays: As necessary

Location: In office and remotely - Ideally the two Social Media Coordinators would spend approximately 1 day a fortnight working from the ADAVIC office, with the other days working remotely.

Reports to: Marketing & Events Team Coordinators

Purpose of the role

ADAVIC has an existing social media presence, with the aim and potential for significant expansion of its scope and reach.

The successful candidate will be responsible for generating promotional content for ADAVIC events, including fundraisers, community information sessions and professional development programs, to be used across our social media platforms.

The role also requires the volunteer to assist in content generation to be used across the Facebook support service as part of its information, support and motivation functions. The content, to be cataloged for ongoing use, may include motivational quotes, stock images, info graphics, and discussion topics.

We’re looking for someone who has a strong work ethic, can commit to a minimum of one day a week for 12 months, and has proven work experience in a similar role.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Plan, create and schedule engaging content across our social media channels (including Facebook; Twitter; Instagram and MeetUp)
  • Utilise social media platforms to successfully expand organisational promotion, widen ADAVIC’s social media presence and reach, and provide encouragement and motivation for service users
  • Support the organisation’s wider Marketing strategy across social media channels
  • Weekly monitoring of Instagram and Twitter accounts, including responding to anyone who has directly engaged with us
  • Promote ADAVIC events, book sales, and other online resources
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of fundraising events and activities
  • Monitor the performance of social media platforms and produce monthly reports

Selection Criteria

Skills & Experience required

  • Outstanding written communication skills, with previous experience writing copy for Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
  • A passion for all things social and a desire to expand your current skill-set
  • Previous experience working across Social Media channels
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • A degree in Marketing or Communications, (or studying towards) is desirable but not essential

Financial Requirements

  • As ADAVIC is a self-funded organization, there are financial requirements relating to this position which help to cover our costs.
  • Requirements for this position include: ADAVIC Individual Membership ($35 annual fee)
