The program is supported by the State Volunteer Coordinator and Admin Asst.

Volunteers undergo a single day training course initially, then 20 hours probation out with other volunteers, before receiving their uniform.

Volunteers work in teams and go out on structured patrols with at least 2 people, mainly on weekends. Volunteers are expected to be able to walk down jetties and speak easily with fishers about the rules of fishing in SA.

There is absolutely no compliance, just education.

You need to be able to communicate effectively, have basic knowledge of fish species and be passionate about the conservation of our fish resources.
