Meals on Wheels Volunteer Helpers deliver meals to older people and people with a disability living in the Parramatta LGA on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Helpers are paired with a driver and are responsible for delivering meals from our Hunter Street office to participants' homes. Bring a smile and a friendly conversation to a person we support.

Essential qualifications:

  1. Able to volunteer from 8:30am onwards
  2. Reliable with flexible availability
  3. Physically mobile and able to carry 5-10 kilograms using a trolley
  4. Able to commit for a period of time, for example, minimum 6 months.
  5. Able to work in partnership with the volunteer driver
  6. Respectful with paid staff, volunteers and the people you are delivering to.

Desirable skills, attributes, qualifications:

  1. Friendly and enjoy talking with staff, volunteers and participants
  2. Experience dealing with older people and people with disability
  3. Experience dealing with difficult people

ABOUT US: Parramatta’s Community Care Team provides services for older people, adults living with a disability and carers of these people. Our team of 60 Volunteers are vital to our services. Volunteers are supported with training, travel reimbursements, and ongoing supervision and support. There are opportunities to socialise with other volunteers throughout the year at recognition events and outside of your role. If you are reliable and have a passion for helping your community, we would love you to consider joining a team of valued volunteers.

All volunteers must undergo a Criminal History Check, a NDIS Worker Screen and provide 2 referees for character Reference
