Retail Sales Assistant

The volunteer retail assistant will work alongside the Op Shop Coordinator to process and present donated items for sale.
Duties will include sorting donated items, ironing of clothes, pricing using set guidelines and placing items into shop for sale. Other duties such as cleaning of donated items and testing for safety and function may also be undertaken (eg: testing to see if battery operated toys work). The volunteer retail assistant will also help maintain a clean and orderly shop by undertaking duties such as vacuuming and general cleaning/tidying of shop.
A friendly manner and the ability to interact warmly with customers is essential. A genuine respect for people of all walks of life and the ability to work within a team environment is also needed.
Volunteers showing the necessary dedication and skills may also undertake front counter sales, after appropriate training has been completed.
Days and shift length are variable and can be discussed further with the Op Shop Coordinator.
