Assisted Reproductive Treatment Families Australia (ARTFA) is a national umbrella organisation with a simple mission: To connect, empower, and support all families, individuals navigating Assisted Reproductive Treatment (IVF) and the donor conceived community. We are NOT here to speak for the community. We are here to CONNECT IT. Whether you’re an intended parent, parent, donor-conceived person, donor, surrogate, advocate, or ally — you have a place here. We believe in building bridges, not barriers, and we proudly welcome collaboration with existing not-for-profits, industry experts & professional bodies. Through years of work with ASMBC and the broader fertility community, it became clear that too many people were being left without independent, accessible support. No where to go when things go wrong. That’s where ARTFA steps in. Our Focus Areas We’re here to make sure no one has to go through this wild ride alone: 📌Support Community through Peer Support Connection. Because sometimes, you just need to vent to someone who gets it (and we won’t judge your pineapple socks). 📌 Advocacy & Legal Reform Navigating donor laws and ART systems is confusing — we help you understand your rights and push for smarter, fairer policies that put families first. We are calling for federal regulation. We strongly advocate for early telling — that is, sharing a child’s donor conception story with them from the very beginning, so it is simply part of who they are. We believe all children deserve to grow up proud of how they were conceived, and no donor-conceived person should ever find out their story later in life by surprise. 📌 Reducing stigma Reducing parental stigma surrounding Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART/IVF) and the use of donor gametes is essential. Many parents feel reluctant to tell their children or others that they used donor gametes due to fear of failure, judgment or misunderstanding. 📌 Education & Resources Knowledge is power. We deliver workshops, expert advice, and easy-to-understand resources — minus the boring jargon and the McDonald’s fries superstitions! 📌 Emotional & Mental Health ART is one of the most emotional journeys you’ll ever take. We provide mental health resources, peer support, and steady guidance.
