The Blind Welfare Association trading as Beyond Blindness is a not for profit, non government organisation providing a range of services to people that are blind in Adelaide and South Australia. Founded in 1937, the Blind Welfare Association is a member based organisation and the only blindness organisation in South Australia owned and operated by blind people for blind people. Currently the Blind Welfare Association has over five hundred members who through the Association can access a wide range of services to suit their individual needs, as outlined in our website. The Association also assists in linking its members to, and coordinating services from, other organisations and agencies. The Blind Welfare Association’s focus is to promote and assist our members in maintaining their independence and individual lifestyles. The Blind Welfare Association improves the lives of people who are blind through advocacy, education, transport, financial assistance, accommodation, social support and many other programs that support member’s dignity, independence and quality of life.
