Archdiocese of Brisbane

Logo for Archdiocese of Brisbane

The Archdiocese of Brisbane encompasses 97 parishes and 216 churches between the New South Wales Border and Hervey Bay. We offer numerous opportunities for individuals to participate in the growing opportunity and need for the involvement of the lay people in the life of the local church. A spirit of volunteerism has long supported and underpinned the Catholic Church in its quest to truly be the “one body of Christ”. As people mature, whether in years or in wisdom, they can often develop a sense of wishing to give of their time and talents for the sake of others. This generosity of spirit, of offering or giving of oneself, can find many outlets in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. South East Queensland is acknowledged as one of the fastest growing regions in the country. As the resources of the Archdiocese are challenged by an increasing population there is a growing opportunity and need for the involvement of the lay people in the life of the local church. The archdiocese offers numerous opportunities for individuals to participate in this way, whether through membership on Councils and Committees; appointment to working groups and planning committees or simply by joining care and concern groups or liturgy and music groups at your local parish. Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct background referencing for all persons who will engage in direct and regular involvement with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
