Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) - TAFE NSW

The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is a long-standing initiative funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs, designed to support newly arrived migrants, refugees, and humanitarian entrants in learning English and settling into life in Australia. Established in 1948 and legislated under the Immigration (Education) Act 1971, AMEP offers free, unlimited English language tuition and childcare to eligible adults. The program is delivered by TAFE NSW across metropolitan, regional, and rural areas, including flexible options like classroom learning, Distance Learning, and one-on-one support through the Volunteer Tutor Program. AMEP plays a vital role in helping students: - Build foundational English skills - Increase confidence and independence - Access pathways to employment, further study, and community participation TAFE NSW works closely with other services, such as the Humanitarian Settlement Services (HSS) program, to ensure students receive holistic support during their settlement journey. Whether you're a student or a volunteer, AMEP TAFE NSW is about empowering individuals and strengthening communities—one conversation at a time.
